News UK launches Movember campaign

The following appeared on the News UK website:

The campaign was officially launched at our Great British Barber shop in Soho on Wednesday to kick-start our month of Movember.

TOWIE star Charlie King was one of the celebs in the chair as he pledged to grow a mo for Movember and raise awareness for men’s mental health.

talkSPORT’s Jim White Show was broadcast live from the barber shop window with guests including Ex owner of Crystal Palace FC Simon Jordan, and ex footballers Clarke Carlisle, Neville Southall and Chris Kirkland.

The boys spoke in depth about mental health in men and why we should talk more about mental health. Ex-Everton goalie Neville Southall told the team how more needs to be done for men’s mental health.

Meanwhile a giant Mo has appeared on The News Building for the duration of the campaign.

On Tuesday we held an early Movember staff shave down event at Groomsmiths Barbers in Borough Market to give our slow mo growers a cheeky headstart.

Last year’s partnership between News UK and Movember won industry awards for its creativity and innovation. This year’s campaign – led by The Sun and talkSPORT, with The Times on board as well – sees a swathe of activity in paper and online, on radio and across the floors of the News Building. The Mo crew have even taken up residence on Level 12 with The Sun. There will be plenty more opportunities to get involved as the month progresses; supporting our Mo Bros, growing your own MO, or making a small donation of your time and money to help us Stop Men Dying Too Young.

The aim of the campaign, across our titles and radio stations, is to get people talking about Movember and the work it does, raise money by growing a mo and help Movember in its mission to stop men dying too young, as suicide remains the biggest killer of men under 45 in the UK.

You can pledge to grow a mo and play your part in stopping men dying too young.
