Newsquest Specialist Media launches Fighting Fit magazine

For the second time in four weeks, Newsquest Specialist Media has launched a new magazine. The first issue of Fighting Fit, a bi-monthly consumer title, launches on Friday, 17th April.

The first edition, in A4 format, offers an initial circulation of 20,000. It will be positioned in the combat sports section of news-stands.

Published by the team behind Boxing News, Fighting Fit will provide a mix of product reviews, technical expert advice, fighter profiles, interviews and features. The editorial team consists of well-known combat sports journalists, top sports writers and fitness experts.

Fighting Fit aims to meet the growing demand amongst combat sports enthusiasts for information and advice on health, nutrition and training techniques. It will also target the rapid growth of aspirational purchasers within the sector and address the increase in popularity of combat training techniques in gyms and fitness regimes.

Alex McLachlan, Publishing Director, commented, “As publishers of the market-leading Boxing News we already have a lot of insight into the marketplace in this sector. Our research, combined with overwhelmingly positive feedback from both prospective readers and advertisers makes it clear this is a magazine with great potential.”

Tris Dixon, Editor of Fighting Fit, said, “The lines between the different combat sports and martial arts are becoming increasingly blurred – and even in these tough economic times they retain their popularity. Fighting Fit is published in recognition of this new area of interest and is a must-read for everyone involved in combat sports from either a fighting or fitness-only perspective.”

Tim Whitehouse, Managing Director of Newsquest Specialist Media, added, “News-stand magazines have a significant role to play in the future of Newsquest Specialist Media. As long as we continue to identify gaps in the market and meet our customers’ needs there is good business to be done despite the economic downturn.”
