Newsstand offers same day despatch

Newsstand, the online magazine retailer, has developed it’s single copy sales offer to include current issues on all UK and overseas magazines.

Current front covers are displayed on the site and any copies purchased before 3pm are despatched the same day via First Class post.

Newsstand carries out the management and fulfilment of the orders generated and allows customers to buy any number of issues they require on a tailored subscription, from one single issue to two years’ worth. Prices are slightly above magazine cover prices to account for postage costs and the high service levels; though sales have increased by 58% in the last 12 months, year on year, according to Newsstand.

“We really want to put the diverse and hugely impressive range of UK print magazines in the shop window and don’t feel that the current discounted subscription model, which is arguably at the expense of niche magazine availability at retail, does the industry justice”, said a Newsstand spokesperson.

“The system levels the playing field for the smaller publications, they can all be on show and available, all of the time, and most crucially where the public can find them.”

Newsstand has also launched the beta version of their “Pocket Newsstand” android mobile application. Claiming to be the first of its kind, it allows mobile phone users to browse the complete catalogue of around 2,500 magazine covers, see on sale dates and will allow the easy purchase of single copies directly through the app. This can be found now in the Android Marketplace with the full launch expected in June of this year.
