Paul Smith has partnered with the British comic Beano, to create a limited-edition capsule collection celebrating Sir Paul Smith’s lifelong love for the comic. Being one of the longest running weekly comics magazine in the world, its longevity and success have inspired Sir Paul Smith throughout his life, making this a natural collaboration between two British institutions, says publisher DC Thomson.
The 8-piece capsule collection is based on the principle that Beano character Dennis the Menace was one of the original punks. This inspiration is expressed through pieces such as the red and black striped wool jumper, which also showcases a growing Made in the British Isles offering. The graphic printed items take inspiration from the comic itself and are illustrated on the capsule collections t-shirts, cap and tote bags A selection of special-edition tailoring with suit linings featuring classic Beano artwork. The graphic pieces adopt Beano’s distinct artistic style, combined with Paul Smith’s design classics.
To coincide with the collection launch, the publisher says a special edition of the comic titled ‘Paul Smith’s Rebel Revolution’ sees Sir Paul Smith visiting the Beanotown school, where children are bored of their grey uniforms and Paul reminds them how easy it is to add subtle nods of playful mischief to their everyday lives. The partnership celebrates a shared heritage of originality and optimism, bringing together two British icons in hopes to inspire a new generation of fans. To note, Beano’s ‘Paul Smith Rebel Revolution’ comic will be gifted with each capsule collection purchase.
Craig Graham, director of Mayhem at Beano, said: “Dennis has spent 75 years showing that a mischievous mind is a creative mind, and Sir Paul Smith has built a career proving much the same thing. That’s why this collection is the perfect fit. It’s colourful, playful and a reminder that the most interesting ideas usually come from people who don’t always follow the rules.”
Paul Smith and Beano collaboration launched on 21st September 2026 and will be available in select UK shops and online at paulsmith.com.
