PPA publishes results of MDAS survey

The 2012 Mail Distribution Accreditation Scheme (MDAS) Customer Satisfaction Survey showed that 63% of publishers are more likely to use an MDAS-accredited company for international mail consolidation / distribution services in the future – a year-on-year increase of 8%.

For UK mail production/distribution services, 61% of respondents said they are more likely to use an MDAS-accredited company – a year-on-year increase of 7%, says the PPA.

Nicola Rowe (pictured), Director of Circulation and Member Services at the PPA, said: “MDAS was created in 2008 as a recognisable ‘badge’ of quality for mailing and distribution firms that would help build confidence among PPA members looking to source these vital services.

“This year’s survey shows that publishers are increasingly likely to endorse suppliers accredited by the MDAS scheme, and reflects positively on those companies’ commitment to meeting the highest standards of service.”

The MDAS Customer Satisfaction Survey is completed annually by customers of each of the companies included within the MDAS scheme, and provides an indication of publishers’ priorities and satisfaction levels relating to mailing services.

Accredited companies included in this year’s survey are: Air Business, BtB Mailflight, Direct Link, Jordan & Co. International, La Poste UK, Mail International, Postal Logistics International, and Total Mail. Participation in the survey is mandatory and failure by companies to comply may lead to a loss of accreditation.

The service aspect to which publishers attributed most importance for the third consecutive year was ‘overall service reliability’. This was followed by ‘delivering to agreed service & specification’ and ‘understanding your requirements’.

David Robottom, MDAS Scheme Manager and Director of D&S Consultants, said: “Publishers and suppliers alike rely on the MDAS Customer Satisfaction Survey to provide an independent annual measure of which mailing services are valued by publishers and how accredited suppliers are performing against these targets.

“The results of this year’s survey show that the scheme is growing in awareness and meeting its wider aim of building trust and confidence in mail distribution.”
