WAN-IFRA announces new board members

WAN-IFRA, the World Association of News Publishers, has announced the re-election of Ladina Heimgartner as President for a second two-year mandate and the election of new members to its Supervisory Board and Executive Board, following the General Assembly of Members held during the 77th World News Media Congress in Marseille on Monday, 1 June.

Ladina Heimgartner, Head Media, Ringier AG & CEO Ringier Media Switzerland, was re-elected President of WAN-IFRA by the association's members. Paul Verwilt, COO of Mediahuis (Belgium), was also re-elected as Treasurer for a further two-year term.

Twelve new members were elected to serve on WAN-IFRA's Supervisory Board.

They are:

  • Yulia Petrossian Boyle (Armenia), founder and director of YPB Global;
  • Coralie Vrancken, CEO Le Soir Division, representing lapresse.be (Belgium);
  • Zoran Turković, CEO of 24sata Hrvatska, representing HUDI Croatian Association of Digital Publishers (Croatia);
  • Petra Fonda, CEO of BurdaMedia Extra, representing Unie Vydavatelu (Czech Republic);
  • Stine Carsten Kendal, CEO of Dagbladet Information, representing Danske Medier (Denmark); Marc Feuillée, Directeur Général du Groupe Le Figaro, representing Alliance de la Presse d'Information Générale (France);
  • Shailesh Gupta, director of Jagran Prakashan Ltd, representing the Indian Newspaper Society (India);
  • Deirdre Veldon, group managing director of The Irish Times, representing News Media Europe; Lene Eltvik Vinfeld, Organisation & Communications Director at TV2 and Vice President of MBL (Norway);
  • Catarina Carvalho, founder and editor of Mensagem de Lisboa, representing Associação Portuguesa de Imprensa (Portugal);
  • Minette Ferreira, CEO of the Media24 Media division, representing Consumer Lifestyle and Special Interest Media (South Africa);
  • Irene Lanzaco (Spain), chair of the committee of directors of WAN-IFRA Member Associations and director general of Asociación de Medios de Información.

The Supervisory Board of WAN-IFRA also confirmed the inclusion of two new members to the Executive Board, Minette Ferreira and Irene Lanzaco, and renewed the mandate of Sandy Prieto-Romualdez (Philippines).
