Seven titles choose to sell Perpetual Access subscriptions through Exact Editions
Exact Editions has named Jacobin as one of seven titles to join the roster of over 50 magazines that offer libraries the opportunity to purchase lifetime access to their archives and ongoing issues through its platform.

Seven new titles - 3x3, Art Monthly, Jacobin, Catalyst, Mekong Review, The Capilano Review and The New World - have joined the roster of over 50 magazines that offer libraries the opportunity to purchase lifetime access to their archives and ongoing issues through Exact Editions.

Exact Editions says this subscription model, named Perpetual and Ongoing Access (POA), allows libraries to guarantee stable and permanent access to a publication’s archive and ongoing issues for a one-time fee in partnership with preservation archive Portico. As well as offering libraries long-term cost benefits and uninterrupted access throughout technological developments, POA also assists publishers in bolstering revenues and fostering relationships with prestigious institutions.

The newly added titles span a spectrum of subjects:

  • 3x3: A publication devoted to contemporary illustration, whose mission has been to preserve, protect, and has promoted illustration in all its forms since 2003.
  • Art Monthly: A UK magazine of contemporary visual art that has offered informed coverage of the British and international art scene since 1976.
  • Jacobin: The ‘leading voice of the American left’, published since 2011, contains writing on left politics and strategy, theory, culture, international affairs, and historical analysis.
  • Catalyst: The peer-reviewed academic journal published by Jacobin since 2017, which brings some of the most advanced scholarship on political economy, labor, political theory, organizing strategy, and historical research to a mass audience.
  • Mekong Review: The quarterly English-language magazine of arts, literature, culture, politics, the environment, and society in Asia, written by people from the region or those who know it well.
  • The Capilano Review: The Canadian contemporary writing and visual art journal dates back to 1972 and serves as a space where art, poetry, fiction, and interviews converge and interact.
  • The New World: The weekly magazine - which includes all issues of its previous iteration of post Brexit pop-up The New European launched in 2016 - provides political analysis, reporting and bold ideas.

Daryl Rayner, managing director of Exact Editions, said: “By adding a POA option in addition to annual subscriptions, these publishers are assisting libraries in ensuring continuity of access to important resources during uncertain times, as well as securing the preservation of their own content for generations to come.”
