Taylor & Francis has announced the launch of the Journal of Psychology and AI, an open access journal that aims to foster dialogue between technologists developing artificial intelligence (AI) systems and psychology researchers exploring human behavior, cognitions, and emotions.

As AI technology becomes increasingly integrated into our lives, the new journal will publish reports on direct human interaction with AI as well as exploring how it is influencing the way we interact with and think about the world, added the publisher.

Other research areas relevant to psychology and AI include using AI for the assessment, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of psychological health conditions, addressing ethical issues, and harnessing AI to analyze and predict human behavior. The publisher says it will also feature research related to robots as embodied forms of AI, such as social robotics, human-robot interaction, and robotics in education.

Chris Krägeloh, professor of Psychology at Auckland University of Technology and Co-Editor of Journal of Psychology and AI, said: “As AI technology rapidly evolves, it is raising important questions for both psychology researchers and AI professionals. Our hope is that this new journal will spark collaboration, inspire innovation, and contribute to the global evolution bridging these transformative disciplines.”

Oleg Medvedev, associate professor at the University of Waikato’s School of Psychology and co-editor of Journal of Psychology and AI, added: “The Journal of Psychology and AI will be a forum for sharing discoveries about one of the greatest challenges facing humanity. We look forward to working with researchers from a range of fields to raise the profile of exciting work being done in this area.”

Welcoming submissions from all types of psychological inquiry, as well as allied disciplines, the Journal of Psychology and AI will promote interdisciplinary research and perspectives across the spectrum from social sciences to neuroscience.
