Oliver is currently The Telegraph’s Chief Sports Feature Writer, a position he has held since 2014. He takes over his new role in July from Paul Hayward who, as announced last December, is stepping down after nine years.
Oliver writes across a variety of sport disciplines and has covered major international sporting events for The Telegraph. He will contribute to all sports coverage in the newspaper’s standalone supplement, which returns on June 13, as well as across the website and digital editions.
Adam Sills, Head of Sport, Telegraph Media Group said: “I am delighted to promote Oliver to this prestigious role and I know he will thrive in the position. He is a fantastic writer and very popular with our subscribers. Paul leaves the Telegraph with our respect and gratitude – it has been my absolute pleasure to work with him – and we wish him every success.”
