Telegraph launches Middle East Congress 2015

Following the launch of the Telegraph Business Events division, Telegraph Media Group (TMG) has announced a new landmark event scheduled to take place in London next year: Middle East Congress 2015.

The Middle East Congress, taking place between 25th and 26th February 2015 at the Jumeirah Carlton Towers, London, is the first planned event for Telegraph Events’ newly launched conference and exhibition arm. It will bring together key decision makers from the region and international investors, along with senior figures from the UK Government, to discuss how business can help the Arab world to unleash its real economic potential, says TMG.

Boris Johnson, Mayor of London, is confirmed to present a welcome address on the second day of the congress. Other confirmed speakers include Baroness Symons of Vernham Dean; H.E. Reem Al Hashimi, Minister of State United Arab Emirates; Mr Ahmad Abdulkarim Julfar, CEO, Etisalat Group and Baroness Nicholson of Winterbourne, Executive Chairman, IBBC & Prime Minister's Trade Envoy to Iraq.

Boris Johnson, Mayor of London, said: “London has always had a close relationship with the Middle East and the region has played an increasingly important role in the development of our city. This congress will bring together key international leaders and will be a great opportunity to exchange ideas about how to boost this relationship.”

Andrew Critchlow, Business News Editor, The Daily Telegraph, said: “With a growing population of over 350 million people the Middle East and North Africa remain one of the most attractive investment opportunities for international business. This congress will provide UK investors with key insights into how they can access the region and key sectors such as education, health, technology and energy.”

Damian Norman, Managing Director, Telegraph Events, said: “Events unfolding in the Middle East highlight the need for a concerted effort by the international community and business to invest in this strategically significant region. TMG acknowledges the important role that the business community has to play in transforming the economies of the Middle East and North Africa and we are pleased our first business event will provide thought provoking discussion and intelligence focused on this area.”
