The Guardian returns to Glastonbury
The Guardian has announced it will return to Glastonbury this summer with a clear message: we are under no one’s spell.

Inspired by the metaphor of magic, the Guardian says its 28th year as official media partner at the festival celebrates the power of free-thinking and independent journalism.

Throughout the weekend, the Guardian has announced it will host three Guardian Live events at The Astrolabe:

  • Friday 27 June: Bimini joins Zoe Williams for a discussion on identity, creativity and cultural transformation.
  • Saturday 28 June: Magician and storyteller Steven Frayne speaks with Zoe Williams about his journey, resilience, and redefining the art of magic.
  • Sunday 29 June: Peter Doherty and Carl Barât of The Libertines sit down with Miranda Sawyer to reflect on their legacy, creative chemistry, and the realities of life in the spotlight.

Magician and storyteller Steven Frayne, formerly known as Dynamo, will also perform live street magic outside the Guardian hub on Friday 27 June. The hub is listed in the Glastonbury app – just search ‘The Guardian’ in the map tab.

In the app, the Guardian says it will also share genre guides and daily picks curated by its music editors, highlighting must-watch sets and offering thoughtful alternatives to some of the biggest names.

The Guardian has announced it will expand its retail presence this year with two trailer sites, helping more festival-goers discover its offer on the ground. For a £5 contribution to support Guardian journalism, visitors can take home one of four limited-edition tote bags, printed with vibrant illustrations by BOOMRANNG. Each bag comes with The Alternatives, a one-off, 100-page magazine full of fresh ideas for living well. Vouchers offering three months of free access to the Guardian app will also be available at the trailer sites, added the publisher.
