The Sun has announced the appointment of Bedir Aydemir as its new data director. The analytics team will now report into Bedir who will bring his rounded experience to this new, critical role for The Sun. Bedir will report into Ben Walmsley, managing director of The Sun, added the publisher.
Since joining News UK in 2019, Bedir has transformed The Sun’s commercial data proposition, and been an advocate for positive change in the publishing industry. Previously, Bedir was insight and data strategy director at MailOnline.
With Bedir at the helm, the publisher says this new team will serve the wider Sun business in a crucial function as they evolve their business, unifying data sets to make their use of data more effective and innovative, as well as providing insights and research that will help them shape their products to meet changing customer needs.
Bedir said, “In my new role as data director, I’m looking forward to a new challenge and taking the incredible work that the team already has in place and pushing it further. We are constantly looking at new ways to integrate and utilise the data available to us, creating novel innovations and taking new steps to personalise our customer’s experience.”
Ben Walmsley commented, “I’m thrilled to announce that Bedir is stepping into this new role, after having such an instrumental part to play in the development of The Sun’s data strategy over the past 3 years. I’m looking forward to seeing how he takes the publication further, enhances the experience of our readers via new innovations and insights powered by cross-team collaboration.”
