Toxic publishes interactive issue

Egmont has launched its first interactive magazine for children.

Toxic, the magazine for tween boys, has launched its first interactive issue using Aurasma technology.

Toxic’s February 13th issue will use augmented reality technology to feature interactive content throughout the magazine, including 3D animated cartoon characters and embedded videos relating to key magazine franchises and core brands.

Ten sites in the magazine have been given the AR treatment and brands involved include Lego, Skylanders, Guinness World Records, Firebox and Monsters Inc.

To access the AR content readers will have to download the free Aurasma app onto their smartphone or tablet and hold their device over the page.

Siobhan Galvin, Publisher, Toxic Magazine said: “We are thrilled to have partnered with Aurasma to bring to market our first interactive magazine issue. We know from the fans visiting toxicmag.co.uk that on-screen content and videos are popular alongside the magazine itself and with over 70% of children now owning a mobile phone, AR is another way we can give fans a really engaging reading experience. We are excited to be offering them something special for half term week.”

Toxic’s interactive issue will be on sale from February 13th for £3.99 and also comes with a bumper gift package including: a bow and arrow, squirt phone, parp whistle, Pokemon magazine and Haribo sweets.
