Aceville wins first £10,000 Dovetail marketing award

Specialist magazine publisher Aceville has just won a £10,000 award from Dovetail, one of the UK’s leading subscription bureaux.

Dovetail has launched an annual marketing ideas “think tank” where Dovetail’s clients, which include a wide range of high profile magazine publishers, can submit their proposals for new marketing activity, however “off the wall”. Rather than simply winning a nice certificate to go in the office, Dovetail is actually offering £10,000 in cash to help make the marketing ideas a reality.

Dovetail Managing Director, Julian Thorne (pictured): “We know that many of our publishers have smart marketing ideas in their heads, but that a number are simply too pressured running their main activities to develop those ideas into rounded campaigns. Our £10,000 prize primes the pump to help turn those ideas into a reality. In addition, all those publishers who submitted their proposals will share their ideas among themselves in a “think tank” where they can spark ideas off each other to help develop their businesses in a number of ways.”

Edging ahead of a strong competitive field, Colchester-based Aceville won the £10,000 award for a programme of online and offline tests which will be based on data profiling and customer-focused activities across a number of their titles. Thorne: “While few of the individual elements of what Aceville proposed were radical in themselves, the independent judging panel was really impressed by the ambition of the plans in pulling together a range of new acquisition channels into a more co-ordinated whole.” Dovetail will be working with Aceville to structure the campaign and to monitor and publicise the results.

Aceville Marketing Manager Andrea Dickson: “We are really looking forward to getting this programme off the ground. Thanks to Dovetail for their continuous inspiration."

The award was judged by an independent panel consisting of Jim Bilton Managing Director of Wessenden Marketing, Shane Redding owner of Think Direct and Joanna Reynolds of Reynolds+busby+lee.
