Autocar unveils mobile website

Autocar has launched a new mobile optimised website, designed to give smartphone users their car reviews, news and videos in the best possible format.

The new mobile site, which can be found at m.autocar.co.uk, has been backed by Hyundai for its launch.

Visitors to the mobile site get a streamlined journey to the most popular Autocar content and, once there, all the reviews, latest news and videos have been redesigned to be more readable on a mobile phone. Simple drop downs at the top of each page let a user tap to find the make and model of car they are interested in or the section they want to find, for instance.

“With more than a third of vistors now coming to www.autocar.co.uk on their mobile devices our new mobile site arrives at exactly the right time,” said Jim Holder, Autocar editor. “A record number of people are interacting with Autocar digitally, and the new mobile website is the perfect complement to our market-leading website, digital magazine and apps.”

Autocar’s publisher Alastair Lewis added: “We’re particularly pleased that a major car manufacturer of the scale and importance of Hyundai has seen the significance of our launch and chosen to put its weight behind it from launch. We are confident that this mobile site is the next step in Autocar’s rapid and successful digital expansion.”

The launch mobile version of site follows the rapid growth in traffic following Autocar.co.uk’s redesign last year.
