Holly Bishop: "NME is thrilled to partner with Bose once again to continue the legacy of the iconic C-Series with C24.”

NME in partnership with Bose has announced the latest instalment in NME’s C-Series mixtape. In its second year, NME says its C24 collaboration with Bose showcases the future of music with established and breakout artists - with a limited-edition NME C24 magazine, vinyl, and cassettes coming soon.

NME says the first track from the mixtape, ‘Funeral’ is an exclusive new single by breakthrough Georgia-born singer-songwriter, Teddy Swims. Available to stream and download across all platforms from 12 July, ‘Funeral’ is also the subject of a bespoke new Bose x NME limited series, On Tape, which features Swims getting inked on the spot in a London tattoo parlour, and talking about his hard-won rise to stardom, before laying down a scintillating live performance of the song, added NME.

Written earlier this year, as Swims sought solace during a chaotic Grammys week by holing up in the studio, added NME, ‘Funeral’ offers an update on the healing journey chronicled in his debut album I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy (Part One), which reached the top 20 in both the US and UK, and its Billboard Hot 100 chart-topping (and UK number 2-charting) lead single ‘Lose Control’.

“‘Funeral’ is fun, upbeat and it’ll make people want to dance, but there’s a layer of sadness underneath that,” says Swims of the song.

Swims continued: “I love being able to make music that has joy but is heartbreaking at the same time. We're finally at the point where we're honing a certain sound. It's all about this old soul, Motown feel but modernising that in a way that feels authentic. Songs like ‘Funeral’ just feel right.”

The full tracklist for C24 includes exclusive new songs from some of the hottest artists in the world including Artemas, Laufey, Royal Otis, Lola Young and Samara Cyn. Alongside them is Tehya, who NME says was hand-picked by the judges of C24’s new artist competition in association with social music creation platform BandLab to find an unsigned emerging artist to get their big break by featuring on the mixtape.

The Bose x NME C24 tracklist is as follows:

  1. Teddy Swims - Funeral
  2. Artemas - So Stunning
  3. Laufey - Where or When
  4. Royel Otis - Nack Nostalgia
  5. Lola Young - I Don’t Mind
  6. Tehya - Peach Pit
  7. Samara Cyn - Loop

Bose x NME C24 will be available to stream and download in full from 19 July on digital platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, and Soundcloud. The publisher says the release coincides with a special C24 print edition of NME Magazine that explores the stories of the featured artists, the creative power of music fandom, and the evolving legacy of the C-Series. The release will also be accompanied by a limited run of 150 hand-numbered C24 vinyl and an ultra-limited run of C24 cassette tapes.

"NME is thrilled to partner with Bose once again to continue the legacy of the iconic C-Series with C24,” says Holly Bishop, NME Networks’ chief operating and commercial officer. "The second year of our peerless collaboration celebrates incredible new music from some of the most exciting artists today, and highlights our commitment to championing global emerging talent. We can’t wait for music fans all over the world to experience brand new music from these seven inspiring artists.”
