Entries were judged by a wide range of editors and guests, including BSME committee members Chris Lupton, Laurence Mozafari, Helen Graves, Andrea Thompson, Gideon Spanier, Hattie Brett, Cliff Joannou and Tim Pollard. They were joined by guest judges including Serlina Boyd and Damian Wild and all decisions will be overseen by 2023 chair Deborah Joseph. The BSME Talent Awards celebrate achievement, best practice and editorial creativity among grass-roots teams across all print, web and social platforms. They’re about shining a light on the rising stars in a profession full of them, added the society.
Deborah Joseph, BSME chair 2023, said: “At the BSMEs we recognise, support and award new talent in our industry, and this year’s nominees are a true reflection of the thriving new generation of creatives, journalists, designers and more who work across multiple platforms to entertain and educate millions of readers. The BSME awards are the Oscars of the magazine world. They are the gold standard for creativity, journalistic excellence and unrivalled storytelling. So being shortlisted for one is no mean feat. Congratulations to all of those in the running this year. As always, the standard was extremely high and set the bar for excellence across the board.”
The BSME says it will announce winners on Tuesday 6 June 2023 at a standing reception ceremony and party in partnership with Stereo in Covent Garden. Tickets are limited with early-bird tickets available until Thursday 4 May at 6pm.
