Catherine Westwood appointed Editor of Woman’s Own

IPC Connect has announced the appointment of Catherine Westwood as editor of Woman’s Own, one of the UK’s best loved women’s weekly magazines.

Through senior editorial positions at Bella and The Sun, Catherine (pictured) has experience in targeting mainstream women across publishing sectors. Currently editor of Wedding, and Wedding Flowers, a position she also held while the titles were owned by IPC, Catherine has expanded the brand digitally and developed it commercially.

Roger Cummings, publishing director of Woman’s Own says: “I am delighted to welcome Catherine back to IPC to edit Woman’s Own at such an exciting time for the brand. Woman’s Own, 80 years old in 2012, has a fantastic heritage, loyal audience and incredible potential. I know that Catherine’s wealth of experience, leadership qualities, deep understanding of the audience and proven track record make her the perfect choice to lead the brand to greater success.”

Catherine adds: “I am thrilled to be joining a brand as iconic as Woman’s Own. The title has a very exciting future and I look forward to working with the talented editorial team to drive it forward and make it an even more essential read for modern 40-plus women.”

Woman’s Own is a key brand in IPC Media’s GenerationYNot! initiative, which seeks to challenge perceptions of the 40-plus female audience.

Catherine takes up her new role in April.
