Claire Irvin joins Bauer Media

Bauer Media has announced the appointment of Claire Irvin as Editor-in-Chief across its Parenting portfolio.

One of the UK’s most successful magazine editors, Claire (pictured) joins Bauer from Hearst UK where she worked as editor of SHE Magazine until its closure in August 2011. She has also been editor of Sugar and ELLEGirl, editor-at-large of Grazia, acting editor of Company, and editorial consultant for women’s glossies such as Red and InStyle.

In her new role, Claire will work across Bauer’s popular Parenting brands including the market-leading Mother & Baby magazine, the UK’s only title dedicated to pregnancy - Pregnancy & Birth and online platform www.askamum.co.uk.

Bauer recently announced its investment in StorkUp, an exciting new digital start-up offering a one-stop portal for discovering and sharing the vast array of baby and kids' products available online. Claire will be working alongside the StorkUp team to help them accelerate audience growth.

Claire will lead the transformational change across the Parenting portfolio with a strong focus on modernising and reshaping its approach to content creation in the digital age, including an ambitious launch programme of apps, tablet editions and eBooks planned for 2013.

Abby Carvosso, Managing Director of Bauer Media’s London Lifestyle brands, commented: “I’m delighted to welcome Claire back to Bauer Media as Editor-in-Chief of our Parenting portfolio. Her editorial expertise, experience and knowledge of the broader women’s lifestyle landscape is second to none and I’m confident that she’s the right person to lead this exciting new stage of development for our parenting brands.”

Claire Irvin added: “Never have pregnant women and mums been more of the zeitgeist. There are few more dynamic and digitally engaged audiences for magazine brands and their advertisers, and I'm looking forward to give them the content they demand in the premium environment they deserve.”

Claire Irwin will report to Publisher David Bostock.
