Commercial director David Roddick to leave Northcliffe

David Roddick, Northcliffe's group commercial director, has announced that he will leave the business in March 2012.

David has been working, and continues to work, on a number of major group initiatives, including the creation of single call centres, changes to our recruitment strategy, and the group's CRM and accompanying salesforce effectiveness programmes. He has also overseen the changes in national sales, taking it to an outsourced model and now, as announced recently, in a joint partnership arrangement.

David said: "I am very sorry to be leaving a great bunch of people at Northcliffe who have a passion for what they do and a set of strong brands which make a difference to the communities they serve but the time is right to move on.

"I am proud of our achievements during my time here, against the most challenging of macro-economic conditions and facing severe structural change in our industry. It is my belief that Northcliffe is very well placed to thrive in the future, and, as I move on to pastures new, I wish Steve and everyone in the business the very best of luck."

David joined Northcliffe in early 2007 after a career in advertising sales for Today newspaper, News of the World, Sunday Magazine, and The Sun. His last position before joining Northcliffe was in general management as digital director of News Group Newspapers, running the web and mobile operations for the News International red-top brands.

Whilst he remains at Northcliffe, David will concentrate on a number of key projects, including the running of the contact centres and the integration of the National business to AMRA.

Steve Auckland, group managing director of Northcliffe Media said: "David's a very strong, strategic leader, who has made a significant difference to the operations."
