Editor to run London Marathon

Eastern Daily Press editor Pete Waters will be running the London Marathon on Sunday, April 22 as part of Team Norwich City in support of Norfolk's Community Sports Foundation's Sporting Light Appeal.

The appeal aims to raise funds to support CSF's programmes for thousands of disabled and disadvantaged people in the county - using sport as a tool to make a huge difference to their lives.

"By creating opportunities to participate in sport, CSF helps youngsters who have had a terrible start in life to improve their social skills, confidence and health while providing valuable respite care for their families," said Archant Norfolk editor Peter (pictured taking part in the Tromso marathon in Norway last year).

Also taking part with Team Norwich City are Canaries legend Iwan Roberts, BBC Radio Norfolk presenters Stephen Bumfrey and Helen McDermott, Norwich City Football Club chief executive David McNally and Craig Richardson who, during a tour of Afghanistan with the RAF Regiment in 2008, was badly injured by an IED which resulted in the amputation of his right leg below the knee.

"This is the only the second time I've done a sponsored run - the other one to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer in memory of my late wife Tracy - but having now been involved in the CSF programmes, I was hugely impressed by how much the youngsters gain from them and moved by their determination to do well. They really are life-changing."
