Egmont picks up global rights for Trolls

Egmont Publishing will be launching Trolls books and magazines in 14 countries to tie in with DreamWorks Animation’s feature film release this October.

Egmont Publishing, leading publishers within licensed character books and magazines, will be launching tie in books and magazines inspired by DreamWorks Animation’s upcoming feature film Trolls in all Egmont Territories including UK, GSA, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Poland.

From the creators of Shrek comes the most smart, funny and irreverent animated comedy of the year, DreamWorks’ Trolls, says Egmont.

Trolls launched originally in the 1960s in Denmark which, according to Silvia Figini (VP Global Licensing Management), makes it a perfect collaboration: “DreamWorks has set the scene for Trolls becoming a great brand with long term perspective, wonderful storytelling and innovative characters. We are delighted that Trolls is launching on the big screen and that the toys are being re-launched. As a Danish founded company this is the perfect collaboration for our market-leading licensing range and we are proud to be on board as a multi territory book and magazine publisher.”

Emma Cairns Smith, Global Licensing Acquisition Director, Egmont Publishing, said of the collaboration: “Egmont is hugely excited about bringing these fun and colourful characters and their magical world of rainbows and cupcakes to life on the printed page.”

All magazine content will be produced by Egmont’s global content creation team, who are developing content for the global brands in Egmont’s publishing portfolio. The new launch will be supported by a marketing campaign across all the territories.

Harriet Murphy, Head of Global Publishing for DreamWorks Animation said: “Egmont houses great creative talents who have real in-depth knowledge of our brand and a truly innovative approach. The world of Trolls is vibrant and colorful and we look forward to seeing it translated from screen to page.”
