Guardian News & Media unveils new biannual fashion magazine

Guardian News & Media (GNM) has unveiled a brand new biannual fashion magazine, ‘The Fashion’.

‘The Fashion’ is the result of a collaboration between the style teams at both the Guardian and The Observer and brings together the styling and writing from both publications into one standalone magazine.

The new 84-page glossy magazine will be a guide to the season’s fashion, says the publisher. The first issue, launching on Saturday 21 September free with the Guardian in selected regions, will feature an interview with the creative director of Dior, an interview with British model Jourdan Dunn, a look at the relaunch of Saint Laurent, fashion shoots, and a behind-the-scenes look at the fashion industry’s secret passion for swimming.

A digital edition of ‘The Fashion’ will also be available on the Guardian and Observer iPad edition and content will also appear on theguardian.com/fashion.

Each issue will contain the latest news on new lines and products, cultural highlights and a guide to the season’s trends. Alice Fisher, commissioning editor of The Observer Magazine, will edit the magazine. The Fashion will also feature fashion writers from the Guardian and Observer, including Guardian fashion editor Jess Cartner-Morley, Observer fashion editor Jo Jones, GNM’s head of fashion Imogen Fox, Guardian and Observer beauty columnist Eva Wiseman and fashion writer Lauren Cochrane. Insight into the industry will also be provided from guest columnist and designer Margaret Howell.

Speaking about The Fashion, Alice Fisher said: “The Guardian and Observer have a fantastic team of fashion editors and stylists and we wanted to produce a standalone magazine that showcases that talent. The result is The Fashion. The first issue is an in-depth guide to the autumn/winter 2013 collections and trends, produced with the wit and intelligence that readers expect from our team of talented writers.”
