Imagine appoints Matthew Balch as Advertising Director

Imagine Publishing has announced that it has made a key appointment to its senior management team. Matthew Balch joins the company as Advertising Director, overseeing the print, digital and mobile portfolio, including magazines, bookazines and apps.

Balch has spent almost eight years launching, growing and managing the sales operation of one of Dennis Publishing’s divisions. In 2010, he became one of the company’s youngest Associate Publishers at 30, before expanding his role as Commercial Director. Throughout his time at Dennis, Balch developed several bespoke products and was shortlisted for Media Week’s ‘Young Media Person of the Year’ award.

In 2012, Balch joined the marketing company, Somo. Here he worked as an Account Director managing mobile and tablet performance marketing campaigns for the likes of Paddy Power, Gamesys and Probability Games, in addition to developing Top Gear magazine’s One 77 iOS tablet app.

Matthew Balch joins Imagine Publishing with the specific aim of developing and growing the existing team to capitalise on company’s ever-expanding portfolio in worldwide print, digital and mobile publishing.

“I’m inheriting a strong unit of bright, capable and dedicated team members,” said Balch. “Imagine has an impressive portfolio of brands and a bookazines portfolio that is the envy of the industry worldwide. With our titles published across all digital platforms and operating systems, I see the opportunity to reach new readers and monetise them alongside our clients as endless.”

Damian Butt, Imagine Publishing Group Managing Director said of the appointment “I am looking forward to working with Matt to strengthen Imagine’s advertising revenues, particular in the fast-moving digital space, and I believe he is perfectly placed to lead our sales teams as we continue to launch exciting new print and digital products.”

Imagine Publishing is one of the UK’s multimedia content producers. Formed in May 2005, Imagine now publishes 20 regular print magazines, 50 digital apps, 29 websites and thousands of articles every month in the technology, videogames, photography and knowledge/science markets.
