Immediate Media launches two new apps

Immediate Media Co, formed out of the merger of BBC Magazines, Origin Publishing and Magicalia in November 2011, has launched two new magazine apps.

A Lonely Planet Magazine Dream Trips app and a Top Gear Portfolio app are now available via iTunes.

The Lonely Planet Dream Trips app is a collection of nine different top trips to tap and swipe through, and includes insider tips and know-how from Lonely Planet Magazine photographers. Priced at £3.99, the app includes exclusive shots not available in the print version of Dream Trips, as well as an interactive map that allows users to pinpoint each location on Google Maps.

Top Gear Portfolio app offers the best of the best automotive photography from the leading car magazine. Edited from hundreds of shoots from a myriad of locations and featuring the world’s most exotic cars, Top Gear Portfolio takes users on an automotive trip around the planet. The app is also priced at £3.99.

Dream Trips and Top Gear Portfolio apps are the latest Immediate Media apps to be produced for the iPad, following Focus and Good Food, with more slated to arrive on the device in 2012.

Immediate Media’s Publishing Director for Mobile Devices, Rebekah Billingsley, said: “These apps are a great example of our digital ambition and creativity. Dream Trips is the first ever Lonely Planet magazine app and is perfectly suited for the tablet – the sumptuous high-definition photography is enhanced by the iPad’s back-lit screen.”

Lonely Planet Magazine and Top Gear Magazine are contract-published by Immediate Media Co for BBC Worldwide.
