JMMT is an international peer-reviewed journal dedicated to the publication of original research, case reports, and reviews of the literature that contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field of manual physical therapy, clinical research, therapeutic practice, and academic training.
The journal was founded in 1992 by John Medeiros, Sharon Medeiros and Stanley Paris, and since its ground-breaking first issue in December 1993 it has grown into the premier stature in which it is recognized today.
Editor-in-Chief, Chad Cook, (Department of Community and Family Medicine and Department of Surgery, Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, USA) looks forward to the journal’s development in the coming years: “Over the last 18 years, the owners, editors, and reviewers of the Journal of Manual & Manipulative Therapy have a history of daring, bold, and insightful actions; a necessity for a small journal that competed in an environment of journals with more capital. Under the new partnership with Maney Publishing there are some exciting changes in store for JMMT. The Journal will now have the resources to improve the review process, grant greater exposure for authors to other societies, readerships, and libraries, and will inject an element of sophistication that can only improve JMMT’s trajectory toward excellence. What won’t change is JMMT’s commitment to its society partners and loyal readership, as it continues to be the members’ journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists, the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy, the Orthopaedic Manipulative Therapists of Australia, and the New Zealand Manipulative Physiotherapists Association.”
Mark Simon, Maney’s Publishing Director, welcomes the journal in a guest editorial in the last issue of 2009: “It is with great pleasure and pride that Maney looks forward to publishing the Journal of Manual & Manipulative Therapy from the beginning of 2010. Our aim is to provide continuity and development to build on the foundations laid by John Medeiros, on which the professional and clinical aspirations of the journal have been so successfully established.”
JMMT will be hosted online by Maney’s technology partner IngentaConnect, where readers can sign up for Table of Contents alerts to this and other related Maney titles such as Physical Therapy Reviews and International Musculoskeletal Medicine. It will be included in Maney’s MORE Health Science Collection which provides instant online access to highly-regarded, evidence-based, clinically-orientated research papers that are of interest to healthcare professionals around the world. JMMT is indexed in PubMed and PubMed Central, and will adopt the online submission and refereeing system Editorial ManagerTM. For more information please visit www.maney.co.uk/journals/jmt
