Johnston Press unveils new look WOW247

Johnston Press has today unveiled a new, fully-responsive website to support its refreshed online entertainments platform WOW247.

WOW247.co.uk has revamped and repositioned its entertainments site, aiming at a young, urbanite audience who want to be informed and inspired about what is relevant to their lifestyle and happening in their city.

A network of ‘City Editors’ in ten key cities across the country will provide an array of entertainment content to give users an up-to-the-minute guide of what is going on locally – from films and food & drink, to music, gaming and the arts.

There are also interviews, blogs, galleries, competitions and reviews as part of the complete overhaul of the WOW247 site – which launched as a national listings site in 2012.

“The new platform and brand have been created to engage with a younger, mobile and social audience,” said Steven Thomas, General Manager of WOW247.

"The new WOW247 is a massive leap forward, offering us a dynamic, well-designed platform to make the most of our great content. As well as showcasing the work of our ever-growing team of contributors, it offers a compelling opportunity to commercial clients and partners, and we have ambitious plans to grow the audience significantly over the next year.”

In addition to the site being fully responsive to better display seamlessly across all screen sizes, from mobile to desktop, the new platform has been made more stable and quicker to load, and features a new logo and branding, says Johnston Press.

“Having carried out extensive audience insight and research work, we realised we needed to shift the WOW proposition to meet the expectations of an urbanite audience,” added Steven.

“Not only did we need to update the product, but the WOW247 branding also needed to go through some changes, and through the new logo and branding, we are now representing WOW247’s youthfulness and confidence.”
