Launch: Middle 8

Middle 8, a new free digital music magazine launched this week, featuring content created by leading musicians and artists.

Middle 8, launched by online live music platform soundhalo, made its debut on Wednesday, 14th August, with exclusive content from Thom Yorke’s Atoms For Peace, Danny Brown and Nick Hornby among others.

The first issue tackles ‘memory’ as a theme looking back at why some shows stick in our memories, why others don’t and the reason nostalgia will always been an important force in music.

The inaugural issue will see author and music guru Nick Hornby share for the first time in his own words the memories of what it was like to witness reggae legend Bob Marley’s iconic live performance, in a self-authored piece for the new free digital music magazine. Speaking for the first time about the experience to Middle 8, Hornby recounts his memories in a surprisingly candid feature, say the publishers.

This issue of Middle 8 also takes a look at why Thom Yorke, after more than 20 years making music, still has a desire to create something new and the challenges that come with changing it all up.

Danny Brown stole headlines this year with a very memorable show in Minneapolis, Minnesota and Middle 8 unpicks what happened and why the world was so surprised by it.

Middle 8 is an extension of new online live music platform soundhalo, which recently made headlines around the world following the global broadcast of the first ever Atoms For Peace live performance in London last month, which was, as a world first, instantly available for download. Dedicated exclusively to live music, artists and performers, Middle 8 aims to give users a completely unique experience by drawing on a diverse mix of artist endorsed content.

This is set to feature interviews, thought pieces, video footage taken and recorded from live soundhalo endorsed gigs, filmed discussions, debates and much more from luminaries across all facets of the entertainment industry.

Soundhalo co-founder and Head of Music Baz Palmer said, “We have had the very special opportunity to work with some of the world's greatest artists. It seemed only natural that we should share some of those unique moments and insights into the lives and creative process of these artists with their fans and the online community at large. After all, these are stories and photographs for anyone interested in a great tale, an unforgettable song or a fleeting moment caught in time.”

According to soundhalo: artists are joining forces with soundhalo as a new way to deliver their music and live performances to more fans than ever before. Working closely with each band, the team at soundhalo collaborate to create a downloadable live vision transmission, finding the best camera angles and acoustics which aim to deliver the feeling of being there, to be cherished and replayed forever.

The quality of the soundhalo downloads is of the highest calibre; achieved by taking audio and video straight from the stage and delivering it back to the fans as the band want you to hear it, as it happens.

Soundhalo is devised by people who love experiencing live music right from the heart of the crowd. This means they avoid the edited finesse and sheen of a traditional live DVD production; instead celebrating the serendipity of live shows and the rush we all feel seeing great bands in the flesh.
