Liverpool Post launches Business Daily

Thursday, June 13, saw the official launch of The Liverpool Post Business Daily – a brand new e-edition publication for tablet and smartphone users.

The new 30-page daily publication will be crammed with valuable news, data, analysis, intelligence and gossip – designed to give readers a competitive edge in the business world in the Liverpool city region and beyond, say the publishers.

Developed alongside the Birmingham Post Business Daily which launched last week, the Liverpool publication is being launched before 500 of the city region’s most influential business leaders at the Liverpool Post’s prestigious Regional Business Awards tonight at St George’s Hall.

The Liverpool Post Business Daily will be full of news and information which will not be available anywhere else, and will also collate other available intelligence to save busy executives hours of research legwork.

The design aims to combine the familiarity of print with the usability of an app and will be constantly evolving.

Valuable features include a Leads and Deals section with tender opportunities, planning applications, mergers and acquisitions, insolvency alerts, executive jobs and news of key appointments and moves in the business community.

It will also see the launch of the Liverpool Post 50, a daily barometer of the health of the local economy by reference to the share performance of fifty key businesses active in the city region.

Data journalism will be at the centre of the product, with statistical analysis on a host of key subjects of direct relevance to the business audience.

A commercial property round up and a focus on the residential property scene, including a postcode pricewatch and an executive property of the day, will also feature.

The Liverpool Post Business Daily will also offer a taste of the key general news stories of the day, and a 60-second sports round up.

The tablet edition is a subscription-based model starting at £9.99 a month on Apple and Android devices. A corporate subscription pricing model has also been introduced with a sliding scale approach dependent on how many subscriptions are taken up by any given company, and the length of the deal.

A dedicated subscriptions manager, Chris Carden, will be tasked with ensuring the tablet edition quickly connects with its target audience. The print edition will continue to be published every Thursday and 'bundle' deals between print and mobile are currently in development.

Mark Thomas, Editor of the Liverpool Post, said: “This new digital publication is a very exciting step for us, keeping our brand at the cutting edge of the news industry in our third century of publication.

“We have expanded our award winning business team to deliver a richness and depth of business coverage that I think will be unrivalled in any regional city. The format allows us to deliver multi-media packages, with video, audio, picture galleries and archive material to enhance our stories.

“Our aim is to create a tool for business people that will be so valuable that it will be an essential part of their working day. I’ve been sharing dummy versions with some key business contacts, who have provided valuable feedback in terms of creating their ideal daily briefing.”

David Higgerson, Digital Publishing Director, Trinity Mirror (Regionals), said: "Having worked on the Liverpool Post for several years, I know how highly-regarded the brand is, especially amongst the region's business community.

"Like the Birmingham Post Business Daily, we have set out to create something which provides the business community with what they need every day: essential information about business which helps them to do their jobs and take their businesses forward.

"There simply isn't anywhere else where people can get such an essential business briefing, waiting for them on their tablet, or on their desktop, as soon as they get up in the morning."

Steve Anderson-Dixon, Trinity Mirror Regional Managing Director North West, Manchester and North Wales, said: ‘Mark Thomas and his team have done an excellent job in bringing the Business Daily e-edition to market and the reaction from the business community following the research that’s been undertaken has given us huge encouragement.

“The success of the publication, as ever, is dependent on the relevancy of its content and I’m confident that the Business Daily will deliver on the business community’s expectations.”
