Stephen Hirst (pictured), Marketforce managing director comments: “It has been a difficult decision not to renew our distribution contract with Newspread, with whom we have had a long association, and I would like to thank the team for their support and service over the years. However, it is clear that there are considerable efficiencies to be had by working exclusively with one wholesaler in this territory.
“The move will simplify process for our business and publisher clients, and the unique supply and copy management arrangements we have with EM News will enable us to work more effectively together to reduce unnecessary waste and drive sales in this important market.”
Marketforce distributes over 350 titles to Ireland, with a combined retail sales value of £25m (€28.6m) each year. Currently delivery to retailers in Ireland is managed through Newspread and EM News. Newspread is a subsidiary of Independent News and Media, whilst EM News is a joint venture between Eason & Son and Menzies Distribution.
