Men’s Health boasts circulation success

Men’s Health, the men’s lifestyle brand published by Hearst-Rodale UK, has strengthened its market-leading position by selling more copies of its March issue on the UK newsstand than the rest of the paid-for men’s lifestyle titles combined, say the publishers.

According to Hearst-Rodale: Industry data received from WHS wholesale (which excludes multipacks), recently, shows Men’s Health registered a sale of 130,000 for this issue whilst the other titles within its market (GQ, Esquire, FHM and Men’s Fitness) achieved a total combined March issue newsstand sale of 123,000.

It is the first time since the heyday of FHM in the late 1990s that one magazine has had a higher newsstand sale than all of its competitors put together.

The March issue of Men’s Health featured Game of Thrones star Jason Momoa on the cover and included the Men’s Health Complete Guide To Style showcasing the hottest fashion for spring/summer 2013.

Group Publishing Director, Alun Williams says, “These figures demonstrate, now more than ever, that Men’s Health is the go-to brand for the intelligent male reader of the 21st century. To dominate the men’s lifestyle market so emphatically demonstrates that even in challenging economic times, Men’s Health is considered a must-have purchase.”

Men's Health Editor, Toby Wiseman says, “We are delighted with these industry figures, and will constantly strive to improve the content of the magazine. Our forthcoming June issue is the next stage of this process. The magazine is undergoing a full re-design next month with new sections, fonts and templates, and we are confident this next evolution of our brand will enable us to continue the success story we have created over the last 10 years.”
