Neil White appointed Editor of Derby Telegraph

Neil, currently the paper’s Deputy Editor, will take over from Steve Hall, who has been promoted to Managing Director of the Derby Telegraph Media Group.

Neil (pictured), has been with the Telegraph for six years after previously serving as Assistant Editor with the Nottingham Evening Post and as News Editor at UK News.

He will be supported in his new role by Chief Sub-Editor Ian Croson, who will deputise in Neil’s absence, and Night Editor Gordon Wilson.

Neil will report to Steve Hall, who will continue to oversee editorial strategy alongside developing both the print and digital offering to readers and advertisers.

Steve Hall said: “I’m delighted that Neil is to take over as Editor. He is one of the best newsmen that I have worked with in 30 years but he has also made a telling contribution in other areas of the business. He is a terrific spotter and developer of talent, has helped raise the paper’s profile through our Community Champions and Telegraph Summer Smile initiatives and has a keen commercial antenna.”

Neil White said: “I am delighted to be given the chance to lead a brilliant, award-winning team. I’ve been honoured to play a part at a paper which has built a reputation as a fierce campaigner for the community. Rest assured, this approach will continue.”

The moves are effective from Monday, July 2.
