New app for Argyll

The Dunoon Observer & Argyllshire Standard newspaper is launching a new app - Argyll & the Isles - for Android and iPhone technology this week.

The following article appeared in the Dunoon Observer & Argyllshire Standard this week to promote the new app:

We live in increasingly digital times where people want information instantly available at their fingertips - eschewing even a PC and preferring to find out anything they want from their mobile phone.

An area like Cowal which depends heavily on tourism can no longer rely on its scenery alone - it too must provide that instant snapshot of information to both its residents and its visitors.

Imagine if there was a one-stop information ‘shop’ which could do all this...where people could find out places to stay, things to do, a tradesman for that quick repair, local news - and could make contact with those companies right there and then.

Sounds simple – and too good to be true?

Well, such a service is now available in the form of the Argyll and the Isles mobile phone app, developed by Cowal company Marine Blast Multimedia in conjunction with the Dunoon Observer and Argyllshire Standard.

The new app provides a comprehensive listing of absolutely everything that a resident or visitor to Cowal might want to know.

Users can call companies direct from their directory listing instead of having to quit the application and move to the phone.

‘Share’ functions with links to all major social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter offer unlimited potential for marketing for companies who have offered users a memorable service or experience.

A map facility allows visitors to find cafes, hotels, restaurants or whatever they are looking for straight away - again all in one place, without the need for separate browsing.

They can also keep up with local news in a flash - and find out what’s on later that night!

It’s free to download and use and, for the businesses that get involved, the unlimited potential exposure it offers can be available from as little as £1 per week - a small price to pay for the possibility of reaching thousands of prospective customers both in the Cowal area and beyond.

The app is prepopulated, so download it now and make sure that your business, event or organisation is listed.

If not, visit www.argyllandtheisles.info where you can complete an online application.

To try out the Argyll and the Isles app, simply use your smartphone to scan the appropriate QR code below (marked for android and Apple handsets). Find the app on your android or Apple phone by searching ‘Argyll and the Isles’.

Businesses who want to see the immense potential for themselves can find out more from the app itself - or call our team on 01369 706082.
