New National Advertisement Manager appointed for Express & Star Publisher

A new national advertisement manager has been appointed by the Midland News Association, publisher of the Express & Star and Shropshire Star.

Jeff Lawrenson will take over the role on January 5 having left his previous role of advertising director for Trinity Mirror Solutions’ Manchester team earlier this month.

Jeff will be responsible for ensuring maximum national advertising revenues are generated by the MNA’s print and digital portfolio.

Jeff has more than 27 years’ experience of national sales and a longstanding relationship with the MNA, having previously worked as the group’s account manager at Amra. He started out in national sales for the Lancashire Evening Telegraph and also worked for the Manchester Evening News and Bolton Evening News.

Jeff said: “I am very pleased to be joining the MNA, which continues to engage with large local audiences in print and online across the West Midlands and Shropshire.

“I am excited to be given the opportunity of attracting national advertising for MNA’s award winning portfolio.”

MNA advertising director Louise Burns said: “Jeff’s appointment to this newly created role will give us the focus and experience we require to maximise our national revenues. Our newspapers and websites continue to deliver a positive response for leading brands so it is great to have Jeff on the team to lead the way.”

The MNA’s print portfolio includes the UK’s biggest selling regional newspaper the Express & Star, named regional newspaper of the year 2014, along with the sixth biggest title the Shropshire Star. It also publishes a series of weekly newspapers and monthly magazines in the West Midlands and Shropshire.
