Outbrain to launch in Germany

Outbrain Europe has appointed seasoned executive Alexander Erlmeier to launch its content discovery solution and drive new growth within the highly strategic German language (DACH) market.

Following the launch of new offices in France, Italy, Spain and Sweden during 2012, Outbrain is continuing its period of rapid European expansion. Erlmeier will take up the role of Country Manager and be responsible for the strategic direction of the German operation, reporting to Simon Edelstyn, Managing Director of Outbrain Europe.

Already at work on some of the largest publishers in the world, including The Telegraph, Sky News, Future Publishing, CNN, Fox News and Hearst, Outbrain’s technology helps people discover the most interesting, relevant and trusted content wherever they are. Serving more than 6.5 billion page views per month, Outbrain allows publishers to increase on-site engagement and generate revenue by linking to third-party content across all media, says the company.

The launch of Outbrain in Germany is a key component of the company’s expansion in the region.

Alexander Erlmeier has over 15 years’ experience in the online industry, ranging from entrepreneurial start-ups through to leading international businesses, such as ICQ, AOL and Mail.RU. Prior to Outbrain Alexander Erlmeier worked as Country Manager, DACH for ICQ where he implemented premium content propositions across online and mobile, helping to establish the company as the market leader in Instant Messaging (IM) with leading publishers, resellers and media agencies.

Simon Edelstyn, Managing Director of Outbrain Europe commented: “This is an important and exciting hire for us. Our continued growth in Europe is both focused and strategic and following a number of successful trials across leading German publications we believe it is time for Outbrain to demonstrate its commitment to the German market with the appointment of an experienced Country Manager.”

“Alexander Erlmeier is a recognised figure in Germany’s digital media space with excellent technical knowledge and a significant level of relevant experience, that will enable us to hit the ground running. In addition, we will continue to expand the teams in both Germany and the UK to offer further support and shore up our investment in the German market.”

Alexander Erlmeier, Country Manager for Outbrain in Germany added: “I’m thrilled to be joining the Outbrain team and delighted to have the opportunity to take its genuinely innovative content discovery solutions out into the German market. Initial trials in Germany have been received extremely well and I believe that there is significant opportunity to drive new approaches and make in-roads that will effectively support publishers and marketers and help consumers get more out of their online content experience - the future of content marketing looks very exciting.”
