Padelfest raises £40K for BHF
Dom Williams: “I’m incredibly grateful for everyone’s efforts, the brilliant day of padel we have enjoyed (even though I lost in the semi-final) and most importantly, to give something back to such an important cause.”

Mail Metro Media says 32 teams representing UK media companies took part in Padelfest on Wednesday 10th September. Launched by Chief Revenue Officer, Dom Williams, the media industry’s inaugural padel event raised £40K for British Heart Foundation (BHF).

According to Mail Metro Media, over 150 players and spectators turned out at Earl’s Court Padel Social Club to enjoy the afternoon of sporting competition and entertainment. Scott Braniff and Ben Walton representing Wavemaker claimed the trophy after winning a closely contested final against Paddy Power’s Jack Wilson and former England footballer, Joe Cole – following both teams coming out on top of group and knockout stages.

Presenting the winners’ trophy, Dom Williams said: “I couldn’t be prouder of the event we have hosted today. British Heart Foundation is an amazing charity which has supported me and my family in recent years – and as a padel fanatic, I had an idea six months ago about organising a fundraising tournament. The outpouring of support which followed, from the Mail Metro Media team organising and my industry peers supporting, has been extraordinary. I’m incredibly grateful for everyone’s efforts, the brilliant day of padel we have enjoyed (even though I lost in the semi-final) and most importantly, to give something back to such an important cause.”

Supporting Mail Metro Media’s aim to raise valuable funds for BHF, Infinitum Entertainment and Calm Media Investments were sponsors of Padelfest, alongside other partners including Wickes, PHD, Wavemaker and abbi&me event consultants. BHF also played an important part of the day with its branded pop-up area, Mail Metro Media continued.

Speaking alongside Dom during the prizegiving ceremony, Regional Fundraising Manager at the British Heart Foundation, Rebecca Honey said: “A huge thank you to everyone who has taken part in Mail Metro Media’s inaugural Padelfest tournament today. Whether you have battled it out on the courts or been one of the event sponsors, you’ve helped make today a smashing success and we’re incredibly grateful. Today you helped raise an amazing £40K for the British Heart Foundation, which will continue to power groundbreaking research to save and improve lives, giving more people, like Dom, more time to live well with loved ones.”
