PRISA Noticias selects Atex for CMS solution

Madrid-based publishing company PRISA Noticias has extended its relationship with Atex, a leading provider of software for media-rich industries, with a new deal for enhancing its content management solution.

Atex Content and Atex Tablet Publishing (ATP) will be implemented for the group’s daily publications – financial newspaper Cinco Dias, sports newspaper AS and EL PAÍS, the world’s leading daily Spanish language newspaper.

The solution will manage PRISA Noticias’ complex editorial workflows and deliver cross-channel content from a single publishing environment. Moreover, the three dailies will use a common database that allows content to be shared while keeping workflows separate – helping to guarantee newsroom independence. Working in a single Atex editorial client environment, journalists will have the ability to search and select content in the newspaper’s archive and photo databases.

The transformation will be critical, says the company, to improving efficiency and reducing cost, while reaching larger audiences through a diversified product offering.

PRISA Noticias is the business unit that encompasses all PRISA’s news brands, originally in print editions and now also available in multi-platform format. Its titles include Rolling Stone, CINEMANÍA, GENTLEMAN, Car and Lux, as well as a number of corporate magazine publications.

Jose Manuel Carballo, IT Manager at Prisa Noticias, comments, “Our experience so far with Atex has been very positive, so we decided on a single publishing environment for all our publications, which will offer improved features and functions and reduce production costs. We are facing a new challenge of building a true multimedia newsroom, and Atex’s cross-media publishing solution will allow us to continue supplying high quality products”.

“The selection of Atex Content by such a large media company is great recognition of Atex’s ability to provide innovative systems that help companies deliver the widest range of services to their customers”, said Bernard Habert, Country Manager of France, Spain and Portugal at Atex.
