Readly International has recruited Mats Rönne as Global Chief Marketing Officer to create a global brand and drive international expansion of the Readly tablet and smartphone app, which allows subscribers to read magazines from a range of publishers.

In the UK, Readly has 22 UK publishers including IPC, DC Thompson and Haymarket and over 131 publications including Marie Claire, Saga, The Beano, Autosport and iPhone & iPad.

Mats brings a wealth of experience and expertise in marketing, having worked at a range of high profile blue chip companies, including roles as Global Brand Director at both Electrolux and Ericsson, and Marketing Director at Skanska Nya Hem (or Skanska Residential Development Sweden). While at Electrolux, Mats was also chairman of the Association of Swedish Advertisers. More recently, Mats has been working as a consultant focusing on marketing effectiveness with Penetrace, an Olso-based developer of tools to gauge the performance of marketing spend, as well as business development for a number of media companies.

Per Hellberg, CEO of Readly International, said: “Mats brings an excellent blend of experience and insight and I’m delighted to welcome him to the Readly team.

“With a strong background in consumer marketing, which is crucial to attract new readers, as well as the B2B know how we need to build out our partnerships with publishers, Mats has a unique mix of capabilities that are ideally suited to our needs at Readly. At the same time, his international experience will be central to our plans for overseas expansion.”

Mats Ronne, CMO of Readly International, said: “Readly is a compelling product that serves the needs of both consumers and publishers in a highly effective way. I’m looking forward to further developing the Readly brand both in the UK and internationally.

“With the monthly subscription model now firmly established in other areas of entertainment, such as music and movies, consumers are looking for a smarter way to buy and read magazines wherever they are and whenever they want to do so, whilst publishers are searching for new sources of revenue. Readly provides a straightforward solution for both.”
