Sun runs LEGO promotion again

One of The Sun’s biggest promotions will be back for a second year when Britain’s favourite newspaper launches its “massive giveaway” of free LEGO toys.

Readers will be able to collect nine completely free LEGO toys with their paper from Saturday May 19 to Sunday May 27.

To collect their free toy, readers simply need to cut out the voucher from the paper every day and take it to their nearest WHSmiths or Toys R Us store.

The nine free toys are:

• Saturday May 19: Batman Jetski Toy

• Sunday May 20: Batmobile Toy

• Monday May 21: Ninjago Ninja Car Toy

• Tuesday May 22: CITY Race Car Toy

• Wednesday May 23: Star Wars Star Destroyer Toy

• Thursday May 24: CITY Police Plane

• Friday May 25: CITY Fire Chief Toy

• Saturday May 26: Ninjago Hidden Sword Toy

• Sunday May 27: Star Wars TIE Fighter Toy

The offer will be promoted with a TV, radio and digital marketing campaign which features LEGO mini-figures cheering at a rally as their King tells them about the offer.

The King, voiced by Ben Miller of Armstrong and Miller fame, tells the assembled crowd: “LEGO people! Every day next week, Sun readers will once again get free LEGO toys!”

“So we will be built and rebuilt to kingdom come! And we’ll do so with a smile upon our shiny faces!”

The TV ads will be broadcast from Friday 18 May and can be seen now at on YouTube.

Rob Painter, Marketing Director for The Sun, said: “This is the third time The Sun has run this extremely successful and popular promotion and we’re delighted to be partnering with such an iconic brand for a second year. This amazing offer will once again demonstrate the great value The Sun delivers to its customers every day.”

Emma Owen, PR and Promotions Manager at LEGO UK, said: "We are thrilled to be entering the second year of promotional activity with The Sun. We have some fantastic new LEGO toys for our fans to collect, including items from our successful Batman, CITY and Ninjago lines.”

The TV ad was created by WCRS with specialist CGI production by Hornet. Media buying is handled by Mindshare.  Press and digital ads have been created by NI Creative, News International’s in-house creative team.

A total of 10,000 Ninjago Skeleton Chopper toys can also be won in the LEGO ‘Find It’ competition run on The Sun’s Facebook page www.facebook.com/TheSun.

The first wave of the LEGO promotion ran in May 2011.
