Along with the existing web solution for their ePaper, The Hindu Group wanted to use PageSuite’s Edition platform to offer their readers an enhanced experience within an optimised native app. The Hindu Group has launched two apps, across both the App Store and Google Play Store, for ‘The Hindu e-Paper’ and ‘The Hindu BusinessLine e-Paper’. Both apps are available to download now.
As well as containing the latest editions optimised for mobile devices, the apps also provide access to a 60-day archive of previous editions and a range of other reader-friendly features, says PageSuite. Subscribers will be able to download editions for offline reading, bookmark articles to read later and share content via social media.
The apps currently include a free trial upon download, enabling readers to use them at no cost, for a limited time, before they are prompted to subscribe. This allows readers to use the new apps and familiarise themselves with all their features before making an informed decision.
Pradeep Gairola, Head of Digital Media at The Hindu, said, “In its 143-year long journey, The Hindu has stayed relevant by continuously evolving and rediscovering itself along with its readers. Our ePaper readers are very young; 65% of them are below 35 and 80% below 45 years of age. They expect nothing short of a great user experience when they consume an iconic newspaper like The Hindu. That’s why we are raising the bar by providing a world-class reading experience with the launch of The Hindu and BusinessLine ePaper apps, along with PageSuite, for iOS and Android users.”
Ross Murphy, CEO at PageSuite, said; “We were delighted to collaborate with The Hindu Group and launch brand new ePaper apps which enable them to widen their reach and help grow their digital audience. We look forward to working with them closely over the coming months to enhance their digital presence.”
PageSuite’s Edition platform enables publishers to launch a print-replica edition, a digital-only edition or an article-flow edition from an existing PDF or from feed-based content. Edition also features an integration with Firebase for analytics and push notifications, says PageSuite.
