The Printing Charity elects new Chairman and Deputy Chairman

The Printing Charity elected Jon Wright as Chairman and Steve Sibbald as Deputy Chairman for 2013 at its 186th Annual General Meeting held on 11 June at Southwood Court, Basildon, its sheltered housing scheme for retired printers.

Former Chairman, Bill Offer, stepped down after three years in the role and 15 years as a Trustee. He said that it had been a pleasure to be part of an organisation that has been helping people in the industry for nearly 200 years. He went on to thank the Trustees for their support and Stephen Gilbert for his work taking the organisation forward.

Jon Wright, Finance Director of Pearson Global Real Estate, joined the charity as a Trustee and Honorary Treasurer in 2004, becoming Chairman of its Investment Committee in 2007 and Deputy Chairman last year. As Chairman, he intends building on the foundations laid by Bill Offer, who will become an ambassador for the charity.

Steve Sibbald has been a Trustee since 2005. He was a Regional Official of the National Graphical Association, which became the Graphical Paper and Media Union, for 24 years and a National Official and Head of Sector of Unite for nine years. He said of his appointment as Deputy Chairman: “I look forward to working with the Trustees and continuing to spread the word that the charity wants to help as many people in the industry as possible.”
