The Sun says from the FOX News Washington DC bureau Harry Cole will cover every twist and turn of the Trump presidency in a new Saturday column.
From later this year, the publisher says Harry will also front a new evening politics show from the heart of the US capitol. It will be broadcast live across YouTube, Talk and social media – bringing big name guests, exclusives and fiery debate.
Reporting to Victoria Newton, editor-in-chief of The Sun, Cole’s new role also includes a monthly column for the New York Post and he will appear on FOX News Channel periodically as news warrants.
After five years as political editor, The Sun says Harry Cole has taken its political coverage from strength to strength across print, digital and video.
Launching Never Mind The Ballots, The Sun’s first political video series, he has interviewed some of the biggest names in politics, hosting a live debate with Sir Keir Starmer and then PM Rishi Sunak in the leadup to the election reaching millions, the publisher continued.
Victoria Newton, editor-in-chief of The Sun said: “I am delighted that Harry has accepted this exciting new role for The Sun in an age when America and the Trump presidency drives the global new agenda. In Washington he is perfectly placed to bring Sun and global audiences the best commentary, analysis and scoops.”
Harry Cole, editor-at-large said: “After covering six PMs, a pandemic, wars and all the political skullduggery of Westminster, it's a wrench to leave the Lobby after ten years. It’s been an honour to serve the last five in the most fun job in political journalism - but I can’t wait to get stuck into the biggest story on the planet right now for our readers, viewers and listeners.”
The Sun says a new political editor will be announced in due course.
