Total Film appoints new editor

Future, the special-interest media group, has announced the appointment of Jane Crowther as Editor of Total Film – the publisher’s flagship movie brand.

Jane (pictured) has been Acting Editor since July last year after joining the team at Total Film as Associate Editor in 2010. Before that, Jane wrote for the brand as a freelancer for over a decade. Beginning her career as a film journalist at the age of 14 as a youth reviewer on The Yorkshire Post newspaper, Jane has also written for various other film publications including Flicks and Sky magazines.

Jane has been responsible for driving engagement with various new initiatives for the brand, including the exclusive Screening Club, which last week invited film fans to view new movie Goon and meet surprise guest, and star of the film, Sean William Scott.

As a proactive ambassador of the Total Film brand, Jane has provided commentary for many national broadcasters, offering insider knowledge on film news, as well as predictions and expertise on high-profile awards such as the Oscars and BAFTAs.

As Editor, Jane will continue to work closely with Group Publisher, Clair Porteous, to further develop the Total Film brand. The magazine is already also available digitally through Zinio and Apple’s Newsstand, online at TotalFilm.com and Jane will also spearhead Total Film’s other editorial properties, which include The Future 100 and The Hot List Awards.

Jane Crowther, Editor of Total Film, says: “"As a reader, contributor and more recently, staff member of Total Film, it's a genuine thrill to be made editor of the smartest, sharpest movie magazine in the market. Total Film is an amazing brand and I can't wait to get stuck in to taking it to the next level."

Clair Porteous, Group Publisher for Future’s Film portfolio, says: “Jane is a film thoroughbred. She has an excellent mix of gutsy editorial nous, second-to-none film contacts and a day-to-day working knowledge of the movie industry. This makes her the perfect person to head up Total Film as we launch into a year of exciting development across the brand.”
