WAN-IFRA has strengthened its presence in Spain and Latin America with the appointment of Olga Britto and Raquel González.

The announcement comes as WAN-IFRA is preparing to host more than 900 news media executives and editors at its annual World News Media Congress, which will be held in Zaragoza, Spain, from 28-30 September.

Olga Britto, a management professional from Colombia with over 25 years’ experience in marketing and advertising, has joined WAN-IFRA as its director for Spain and Latin America, says the association. In this role, she will reinforce the current array of services and launch new initiatives to support the growing regional membership. She will be supported by Raquel González, who has been appointed deputy director.

WAN-IFRA continued, prior to joining WAN-IFRA, Britto launched the IAB (Interactive Advertising Bureau) in Colombia, serving as managing director there for 15 years. During her tenure, she grew IAB’s membership in the country’s online advertising space. It also increased in the LATAM region, with its portfolio of conferences, training and benchmarking projects.

She was also general director for Effie Awards Colombia, with awards for marketing communications. She also worked for companies like Bank Davivienda, McCann-Erickson, El Espectador and the Colombian Association of Advertisers (ANDA). She has a degree in Business Administration from Universidad de Los Andes en Bogotá with further studies in digital marketing and transformation.

I look forward to working with industry partners and members of WAN-IFRA to meet the challenges of our rapidly evolving news industry during this digital era.”

Speaking of Raquel González’s appointment WAN-IFRA added, as the newly appointed deputy director, González will focus on delivering experiences for attendees at region-wide WAN-IFRA events. She has already played a role there, supporting and helping to coordinate events like Digital Media LATAM and other WAN-IFRA events. She brings a track record of developing and delivering successful projects and events, such as the Edinburgh Film Festival, Tour of Britain and Beltane Fire Festival before she joined WAN-IFRA. A graduate in Philosophy from Universidad Autonoma de Madrid, González also holds BA Honours (1st Class) in Festival Management with Marketing from Napier University.
