The issue is the culmination of several months of planning, with an online competition hosted in March with readers voting for a real-life bride-to-be to featured on the front cover of the May/June issue, a magazine- first.
This year, You & Your Wedding is celebrating real brides and what better way to do that than to put them on the cover, says Immediate Media. There was a shortlist of seven real brides-to-be chosen by the You & Your Wedding editorial team with the public voting online to decide who would grace the cover of the May/June issue. The winning bride selected is Gayle Griffiths from Bournemouth who is getting married in Ringwood, Hampshire. All the shortlisted brides featured on the cover of the April issue.
In addition to having the chance to appear on the cover, the new issue is also completely guest edited by the brides-to-be; giving them the chance to get involved in tastings and make up sessions to sharing all sorts of wedding dilemmas.
Maxine Briggs, You & Your Wedding Editor, says: “Y&YW prides itself on putting real brides at the heart of everything we do. There was nothing the real brides didn’t want to get involved in from choosing dresses for the fashion shoot, to visiting cake extraordinaire Peggy Porschen to taste the latest flavours or creating a budget feature to tackle those nitty gritty money conundrums. On top of that, we are really excited that Gayle is our first ever winner.”
In total there were 3,655 votes online at www.youandyourwedding.co.uk in March with Griffiths winning 23% of the total vote. The magazine is on sale now.
