AOP launches Inside Out Digital Publishing Convention

The Association for Online Publishing (AOP) has announced the first round of speakers for its annual autumn conference – now a two-day convention – to help publishers keep pace with rapid technological progress.

The Inside Out convention, due to take place on 7th and 8th November 2016, will provide professionals at every level with invaluable insight into the trends, challenges, and developments that are changing the face of digital publishing. Designed for maximum flexibility, the new format enables attendees to tailor their experience by choosing from a range of convention modules and training sessions covering a myriad of topics, to best suit their individual requirements, says AOP.

Confirmed speakers include writer and media consultant, Ray Snoddy, who will look at the changing role of journalists and content strategists; IAB's Director of Data and Industry Programmes, Steve Chester, will address the challenges surrounding the ‘adblockalypse’; while CEO of Scoota, James Booth will chair a module focusing on the advertising user experience, which includes a presentation from Executive Vice President, Brand Safety, GroupM Global, John Montgomery.

Also in the line-up is Sean Blanchfield, CEO at PageFair, who will talk about product challenges; Toby Hoon, Chief Information Officer at Immediate Media and former Director of Customer Technology at Tesco, who will discuss distributed audience platforms; and AIME Managing Director, Rory Maguire, who will examine the latest developments in micropayments.

Other sessions across the two-day event include Product Challenges, Understanding Advertiser Needs, and Content Creation – The New Frontier. For less experienced publishing professionals, keen to progress their careers, there is the chance to attend Inside Out Academy training modules.

“As the industry adjusts to a technology revolution that has caused a seismic shift in audience behaviour, publishers are responding to accommodate the new attention economy,” said Richard Reeves, AOP managing director. “Through the Inside Out convention, we aim to help publishing professionals adapt to these changes by working through key issues at an expert level and providing high-quality education on how to harness the latest trends, from the rise of user-generated content to monetisation models.

“The revamped event will provide insights and useful takeaways for all members of the publishing ecosystem – from graduates to C-level executives, offering a holistic view of the industry, delivered in a user-friendly format.”

The AOP Inside Out convention will take place on the 7th and 8th of November 2016 at the Congress Centre, London.
