Archant launches London mobile city guide

Archant has announced an exclusive partnership between its London24 digital brand, publisher of the www.London24.com website and MyCityWay, developers of leading mobile city guides worldwide, to launch a new mobile City Guide app for London.

The partnership with MyCityWay covers the Greater London territory, and comes just in time for this summer’s major events in London: the Diamond Jubilee and the Olympic Games.

The mobile application – called MyCityWay London24 – is a real-time, location-based, free of charge city guide. It is, says Archant, the ultimate mobile guide to London, currently comprising more than 30 specialist mini-apps, making it a discovery tool for all kinds of London-related information based on the user’s actual location and purpose within the M25.

The mini-apps within MyCityWay London24 allow the user to check up-to-the minute traffic feeds with live camera images of London’s busiest road intersections; locate the nearest parking spot; or simply find a list of the places nearby where they can get a coffee. The app also allows users to find out what’s showing at the nearest cinema, discover concerts or special events; go shopping nearby and connect with others to share tips about places and events; find what they never knew existed on their doorstep...and much more.

The MyCityWay London24 mobile app is initially only available for the iPhone and iPad, and can be downloaded for free from the iTunes App Store. It will be followed within weeks by an Android version.

Adrian Jeakings, Archant chief executive, said: “We are very excited to be able to offer a free of charge city discovery tool in time for the summer with all its happenings. It is a natural extension of our London24 digital brand and its core mission to serve London residents, commuters and tourists with helpful and relevant information in order to explore and enjoy what the city has to offer. It is also another example of Archant’s multi-platform approach and use of leading-edge digital products.

“Our partnership with MyCityWay sees us deliver the most comprehensive mobile app for users needing relevant local information across London, and it also acts as a powerful advertising platform with the ability to target consumers with great accuracy through 1:1 location-based advertising, coupons, deals, and even mobile stores.” He said.

MyCityWay Co-Founder, Puneet Mehta, said: "We are thrilled to partner with Archant and London24 - innovative leaders who share our passion for the urban ecosystem - to extend MyCityWay's mobile guides to Londoners and the international visitors that come to this amazing city.  My fellow co-founders and I founded MyCityWay with the goal of helping both residents and tourists navigate, explore and enjoy the world's cities like never before. Our new MyCityWay London24 app is a metro-licious, comprehensive and always connected mobile dashboard that personalises your London experience."

The exclusive partnership deal between Archant and MyCityWay was constructed by Digital Director for Archant London, Paul Hood.
