The EMAP-owned publication, which is part of the company’s portfolio of construction-related titles, was first published in 1896 and sees itself as the voice of architecture in Britain.
The new web site, which complements the weekly printed publication, is powered by Abacus e-Media’s Webvision v3 multichannel content management system (CMS). The site also uses Autonomy’s IDOL v7 software to provide powerful and intelligent search functionality, related content and jobs from the Careers in Construction Madgex powered job board.
The site is rich with buildings imagery, technical specifications, interviews and regular topical email updates. Video powered by Brightcove and a range of social networking tools, such as Twitter and Flickr feeds, have been seamlessly added by the AJ team to provide a truly engaging user experience.
Architects Journal is the second EMAP title to go live with a new web site designed by Abacus, other titles will follow shortly.
