Wendy Sly: “Our new website is the next step in Athletics Weekly’s evolution and will see readers accessing more insightful video content and exclusive interviews.”

Athletics Weekly has launched a new website, marking a milestone in the publication’s eight decades of providing news and insights for athletics enthusiasts worldwide.

Newly launched, the publisher says the website provides a cleaner design, easier navigation, and a more streamlined user experience.

Athletics Weekly says the new site will introduce a host of new features, including exclusive interviews with prominent figures from the sport in 'The Legends Series'. There will also be a series of mini-documentaries, which will feature the stars of the future as the publication takes a tour around some of the most successful UK clubs and universities.

Athletics Weekly says key features of the new website include:

  • Exclusive Content: Premium interviews, enhanced video content, and in-depth coverage.
  • User-Friendly Design: A cleaner interface for effortless and more streamlined browsing.
  • Streamlined Ad Experience: A reduction of intrusive ads to ensure a cleaner, more enjoyable reading experience.
  • Paywall Introduction: While some stories remain free, premium content will now be accessible behind a paywall to support high-quality journalism.

Athletics Weekly managing director, Wendy Sly, an Olympian and board member of UK Athletics, said: “Our new website is the next step in Athletics Weekly’s evolution and will see readers accessing more insightful video content and exclusive interviews.

“From its early days of weekly editions, to its current status as a digitally focused publication, the magazine continues to be an essential resource for enthusiasts of athletics.”

Wendy said that when she was a competitive athlete, the magazine was an essential read and used to hit the shops every Thursday.

“Athletics Weekly was the only way to see who was running well, and what competition I would be facing at my next race,” said Wendy, who first appeared on the front cover of the magazine in 1976 as a young athlete.

“Over the last 80 years the publication has moved with the times, changing from weekly to monthly, becoming less results driven and developing a more feature and digitally focused format.

“Now, instead of printing race results in a magazine, we are able to get them out almost instantly on our social media channels. One thing that has never changed though is that we are a respected and trusted source of news in the number one Olympic sport.”

To celebrate the website launch, Athletics Weekly has announced it is introducing a limited-time early bird offer of just £9.99 per month for a Gold Tier subscription, which includes both the magazine subscription and access to premium online content.
