Autocar appoints Jim Holder as Editor

Haymarket Media Group has announced that Jim Holder has been appointed editor of Autocar.

Holder (pictured), one of Haymarket’s most experienced editors, moves from sister title What Car?, and will be responsible for realising Autocar’s ambitious plans in print and online.

“It's an incredible honour to edit the world's most respected car brand and I’m looking forward to shaping its future across all platforms,” said Holder. “Autocar has enjoyed impressive growth in recent years, especially online, and I aim to build on that success.

Jim has a strong news background that has included senior roles on Autocar, Autosport and Motorsport News.  Most recently, he has overseen the successful redesign of What Car? magazine, which announced a circulation increase of five per cent in the latest ABCs.

Autocar publisher Alastair Lewis said: “Jim is coming back to Autocar at an exciting time. We have big plans for the brand and Jim’s vision and creativity will ensure that we realise them.”

Patrick Fuller, group director of Haymarket Motoring, said: “Jim’s promotion follows the appointment of Chas Hallett as editor in chief of What Car? and completes a number of key changes to our teams in the past month. The strength in depth of Haymarket’s Motoring brands is unprecedented and we are tremendously proud of the products created by our many talented journalists.”

Autocar claims to have been at the cutting edge of automotive development since its first issue in 1895. The magazine recently celebrated the publication of its 5000th Road Test with a record breaking 400-page special issue and is now published in 16 countries throughout the world. Its successful website, autocar.co.uk, attracts 1.85 million visits a month and its digital products include numerous apps and thousands of video road tests, says Haymarket.
